Job summary

West Virginia University (WVU) is seeking a Temporary (Hybrid) Social Science Assistant in the SNRE. The role supports research projects, including management tasks, data analyses, and reporting, with potential fieldwork opportunity.

Hybrid schedule up to 30 hours/week and collaboration via email, Zoom, and Teams are expected. The successful candidate will assist with research writing, data collection, and manuscript preparation, working with faculty and staff to meet program objectives.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in natural resources-related field or business-related field preferred
• MS in natural resources-related management or business-related management may substitute for education plus experience
• Minimum six months in-field data collection on state, federal, or municipal lands preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day operations management and assistance for research activities (communications, writing)
• Assist with preparation of data collection and fieldwork plans for research projects
• Write peer-reviewed manuscripts and research reports to summarize data and results
• Assist with duties related to production of academic journal publications
• Meet regularly with supervisor to discuss research assignments
• Collect and process travel receipts and reimbursement forms for Principal Investigator
