Job summary

Leeward Renewable Energy (LRE) is seeking a Project Development Engineer (P2) to drive engineering diligence for wind, solar, and storage projects during development. You will optimize designs to ensure market readiness while supporting LRE’s long-term ownership and environmental stewardship goals.

The role emphasizes collaboration, proactive risk management, and coordinating with performance, procurement, and regulatory teams to advance a robust project pipeline.

Qualifications

• 4-year engineering bachelor’s degree required.
• 3–6 years of relevant technical experience, renewable energy preferred.
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, PVsyst, PlantPredict, OpenWind is a plus.
• Strong project management and communication skills.
• Understanding of permitting processes and engineering economics.

Responsibilities

• Conduct desktop site assessments to inform project capacity and risks.
• Prepare preliminary site layouts and energy prediction reports.
• Collaborate with engineering to define deliverable needs (surveys, geotechnical reports).
• Provide input to permitting, PPAs, interconnection, and financial modeling.
• Prepare engineering quantities for budgets and schedules.
• Represent LRE in development and permitting meetings with stakeholders.
• Lead multiple projects and manage submittal dates.
• Transfer knowledge to the execution team during pre-construction.
