Job summary

VAA is seeking a Structural Designer to join our hybrid/remote team in the New Orleans, LA area. You will work with Designers and Engineers to produce quality drawings from concept through construction documents.

Responsibilities include setting up plans, sections and details, coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams, clients and suppliers; mentoring Technicians; and tackling increasingly complex design tasks while growing with the firm.

Qualifications

• Certificate in construction related design/drafting or higher.
• 5+ years of experience in structural design.
• Experience with drafting standards and construction documents.

Responsibilities

• Work with Designers and Engineers to produce quality drawings from concept phase through construction documents.
• Set up plans, sections and details to specified drafting standards.
• Coordinate with multi-discipline design team, clients and equipment suppliers.
• Provide direction to Technicians, review their work, and assist with training.
• Communicate effectively with clients, contractors and internal teammates, and collaborate on design decisions.
• Utilize software with increasing efficiency and depth of understanding.
• Undertake increasingly complex design tasks with a commitment to continuous learning and client service.
