Job summary

North Country HealthCare, Inc. seeks a licensed RN for the Prescription Refill Nurse role to ensure safe, timely renewal of patient medications. You'll review requests, verify details, and document refills following established protocols in collaboration with prescribing physicians.

Qualifications

• Associates of Science required or equivalent nursing qualification.
• RN licensure in the state of practice.
• BLS certification preferred; prior prescription management experience a plus.
• Experience with EMR systems and clinical workflows.

Responsibilities

• Review prescription refill requests from patients.
• Verify patient information and prescription details for accuracy.
• Use clinical judgment per established protocols to approve refills.
• Collaborate with prescribing physicians to confirm or modify orders.
• Follow flow charts to standardize refill processes and communicate status to patients.
• Refer patients needing appointments or labs to the appropriate location.
• Document all refill activities in EMR with 'refill sent per protocol'.
• Note changes in prescriptions and WEB encounter responses as required.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with regulations regarding patient information.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to refills.
• Pursue ongoing professional development to stay current with standards.
• Process prior authorizations and navigate insurance requirements.
• Handle denials and appeals efficiently.
• Manage a high-volume workload in a timely manner.
