Job summary

Matrix Research, Inc. seeks an experienced Prototyping Labs & Fabrication Manager to lead our fabrication, electronics assembly, and drone flight/testing facilities in Dayton, Ohio.

You will supervise a multidisciplinary team, optimize lab utilization, and drive external contracting work with DoD, primes, and commercial customers. The role requires 10+ years in mechanical design/fabrication, strong hands-on prototyping skills, and a track record in technical business development.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience spanning mechanical design, fabrication, prototyping labs, and business development.
• Hands-on background in mechanical engineering, manufacturing, and rapid prototyping.
• Proven capture and business development in fabrication/rapid prototyping for DoD primes or commercial customers.
• Experience running lab operations, safety, calibration, and CapEx planning.
• Familiarity with tracking lab utilization, budgeting, and managing facility hourly rates.
• Ability to lead a technical team across multiple projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
• U.S. citizen able to obtain/maintain DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead fabrication, electronics assembly, and unmanned flight/testing facilities.
• Supervise engineers and technicians across Mechanical Fabrication, Electronics, and Drone labs.
• Balance lab utilization across contracts and market capabilities to customers.
• Oversee safety, calibration, CapEx planning, and labor rate compliance.
