Job summary

AECOM is seeking an Associate Analyst (Project/Cost Controls Engineer) to support a major public-sector capital program in California. This role provides project controls, cost management, scheduling, and reporting across a regional portfolio of complex projects.

You will work closely with Senior Project Managers, maintain schedules in Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project, track budgets and forecasts, and support portfolio-level leadership with analytics and documentation.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Finance, Business, Architecture, or a related field plus six years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and analyze project cost, schedule, and performance data across an assigned portfolio of capital projects.
• Prepare, update, and distribute monthly project status reports, dashboards, and portfolio-level reporting.
• Monitor project budgets, commitments, expenditures, forecasts, and available funding throughout the lifecycle.
• Track invoices, change orders, contingency utilization, encumbrances, and expenditures against budgets.
• Develop and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6 or MS Project.
• Identify cost, schedule, and performance trends and advise leadership on corrective actions.
• Maintain risk registers, logs, and other project controls documentation.
• Support capital budget requests, change packages, and funding documentation.
• Compile data for client leadership and government reporting.
