Description

The Department of Cancer Prevention and Control in the Cancer Institute at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a (Hybrid) Program Coordinator.


About the Opportunity


The position is located within the Department of Cancer Prevention and Control (CPC) at the WVU Cancer Institute (WVUCI), and duties may include other CPC or WVUCI projects and responsibilities. CPC serves all of West Virginia and this position will require travel throughout the state. Work effort enhances state, regional, and national partnerships, delivery of service, community engagement, and WVUCI image.

What You'll Do



  • Develops and maintains partnerships with strategic stakeholders, community and professional partners, and various community-based organizations throughout West Virginia and the Appalachian region.

  • Coordinates internal and external programmatic meetings to monitor the progress of grant-funded projects or initiatives. This includes developing agendas, recording and disseminating meeting minutes, and tracking action items and deliverables.

  • Creates and disseminates cancer information through resources such as handouts, flyers, videos, photographs, posters, infographics, social media, and websites for both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Assists with applications for additional funding opportunities for CPC projects, providing necessary data and documentation.

  • Coordinates partnership-related activities, including the recruitment, enrollment, and retention of community partners, both online and in-person.

  • Provides training and technical assistance to professionals, including doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, and medical assistants, on screening guidelines and available programs in West Virginia.

  • Assists in developing articles, abstracts, and posters to promote CPC's programmatic work and outreach.

  • Completes data collection and input, assists in developing and implementing strategies to address weaknesses, and reinforces positive practices among partners.

  • Coordinates internal and external programmatic meetings to engage stakeholders.

  • Functions as a member of the CPC staff, participating in staff meetings, required conferences, training seminars, and program meetings. Completes all required WVU trainings and certifications.

  • Assists with other CPC program activities as requested by leadership.

  • Represents the WVU Cancer Institute and/or the Department of Cancer Prevention and Control at state, regional, and national meetings and conferences.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in appropriate discipline: public health, social work, counseling, communications, marketing, health education.

  • A minimum of six (6) months of experience in the following:

    • Program support role (cancer control preferred), event planning, group dynamics, maintaining internal and external partnerships, and program assessment; OR



  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and two (2) years of experience in program support role (cancer control preferred), event planning, group dynamics, maintaining internal and external partnerships, and program assessment.

  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.

  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.

  • Skilled at synthesizing discussions for documentation and preparing accurate meeting minutes.

  • Ability to establish priorities, adhere to deadlines, have high attention to detail and follow through, and ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Skilled at writing correspondence and preparing reports.

  • Demonstrates proficiency with general computer applications including Microsoft Office.

  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining cooperative working partnerships.

  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary team environment and to coordinate participation of team members from various backgrounds.

  • Ability to work as part of a team and with significant degree of independence.

  • Commitment to principles of community, diversity, and inclusion.

  • Ability to travel with occasional overnight stays, working outside the traditional work week when needed.

  • Ability to maintain proper attendance and punctuality standards

  • Willingness to seek consultation and supervision as needed.

  • Knowledge of current health issues, health education and behavioral theories, and health information needs of the medically underserved preferred.

  • Ability to interact sensitively, effectively, and professionally with persons from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial, ethnic, and professional backgrounds and persons of all ages and orientations.

  • CITI Certification (expected to be attained within 6-months of hiring).
