Job summary

Chord Energy is seeking a production engineer in downtown Houston to maximize oil and gas production and profitability by assessing costs, estimating production capabilities, and evaluating economic value of wells using data-driven methods and statistical tools. The role reports to the Production Engineering Manager, with a hybrid schedule (remote Mondays and Fridays) and primary office in Houston.

The engineer will travel 1–2 times per quarter to field sites, be on-call for nights and weekends,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline
• 1–5 years of industry experience
• Experience with Microsoft Office
• Strong statistical reasoning skills
• Basic knowledge of Python & SQL
• Detail oriented and organized
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and fluid environment

Responsibilities

• Actively monitor daily production for variances and minimize deferred production
• Identify root causes of failures and recommend improvements
• Witness teardown of failed artificial lift equipment and coordinate with vendors to improve designs
• Develop and maintain equipment design and selection models informed by well history and environment
• Utilize XSPOC to identify wells needing intervention and optimize all wells
• Travel to field locations 1–2 times per quarter; primary office in Houston, TX; on-call nights and weekends
