Job summary

MetLife Investment Management’s Private Capital team seeks an Associate to support the Corporate Private Debt group in origination, execution, and portfolio management across investment-grade opportunities. You’ll interact with multiple teams to source opportunities and structure transactions.

The role emphasizes rigorous credit analysis, financial modeling, and presenting recommendations to Investment Committee, with a hybrid in-office schedule in Whippany, NJ and competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with strong academic record and 2–3+ years in credit underwriting, corporate finance, M&A, or investment analysis.
• Strong credit and financial analysis skills including financial statement review and fundamental credit assessment.
• Advanced Excel skills, financial modeling, and fixed income market analysis.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly in writing and speaking.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong prioritization and decision-making in fast-paced environments.
• Unrestricted U.S. work authorization.

Responsibilities

• Source and evaluate investment opportunities through market research, deal tracking, roadshows, and meetings with bankers and advisors.
• Conduct comprehensive due diligence by reviewing memoranda, reports, and legal structures.
• Perform financial analysis and modeling, review financial statements, and assess credit considerations.
• Support transaction execution by preparing investment memoranda and assisting with closings.
• Prepare presentations and investment recommendations for Investment Committee reviews.
• Monitor portfolio investments through credit reviews, updates, and client requests.
