Danovo Energy Solutions is seeking a Distribution Planning Intern for Summer 2027 in Raleigh, NC. The role involves learning from the Distribution Planning team while contributing to practical, robust, and implementable solutions for power systems.

Open to undergraduate and graduate students in Electrical Engineering. The internship offers hybrid work, housing assistance for non-local candidates, and opportunities to engage with CYME/Synergi software and data-driven analysis.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or closely related field.
• Completed coursework in power engineering/power systems or currently enrolled in a BSEE program.
• Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week) for Summer 2027 term.
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
• Self-motivated, a team player, and able to work in a diverse and inclusive space.
• Good written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support Distribution Planning in evaluating electric distribution system performance and reliability.
• Perform load flow, system modeling, contingency analysis, and interconnection studies using CYME or Synergi.
• Assist engineers in area planning studies for thermal and voltage mitigation, feeder reconfiguration, and capacitor/regulator placement.
• Apply programming or scripting skills (e.g., Python, SQL) to support data processing and automation.
• Prepare technical reports and documentation summarizing study methodology, results, and recommendations.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to interpret study results and support planning recommendations.
• Build familiarity with study, modeling, and planning tools used in Distribution Planning.
• Assist team with project documentation and file system recordkeeping.
