Job summary

Phoenix Operations Group, based in San Antonio, Texas, is seeking a Platform Engineer to develop, integrate, and support secure infrastructure for cloud and big data applications. The role is hybrid with onsite about two days per week, combining software development with hands-on systems engineering, including Linux administration and container orchestration.

The successful candidate will turn designs into reliable operational capabilities, automate environment setup, and integrate open-source

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus five years of platform engineering or software development experience; related master’s plus three years; or high school diploma/equivalent plus nine years.
• Python or Go programming and Bash/shell scripting.
• Strong Linux, networking, and security knowledge.
• OS deployment/configuration using Kickstart, Ansible, Puppet, or similar tools.
• Kubernetes deployment and administration.
• Docker/Podman and Helm, Kustomize, Flux CD, or comparable tooling.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate, and support secure cloud and big data infrastructure.
• Automate environment setup and build repeatable, maintainable platforms.
• Collaborate with architects and engineers to implement designs end-to-end.
• Operate and manage Kubernetes environments and containerized services.
