Job summary

The Arboretum at Penn State is offering a paid internship in plant collections management for undergraduates, graduates, and recent graduates. The role focuses on botanical recordkeeping, labeling, inventorying, and supporting public garden operations.

Work will be primarily on-site with some remote opportunities in a hybrid setup. The internship can run up to 9 months, starting in early spring 2027 and ending in fall, with a 40-hour work week and 7:00am–3:00pm schedules.

Qualifications

• Experience with plant records systems or collections management.
• Familiarity with data entry and large data sets.
• Comfort using GIS and mapping tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing the Arboretum's plant records using IrisBG for internal and public use.
• Help maintain and improve Arboretum Explorer and related visitor tools.
• Collect GPS data with mapping apps to support plant records and research.
