Job summary

The Arboretum at Penn State offers paid, part-time internships for undergraduates and graduates to gain experience in environmental education within a botanic children's garden setting. Interns will help develop and facilitate nature-based programs and work with youth and family education staff.

Positions run for 16 weeks (May 3–August 20, 2027) with typical hours 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. on weekdays; some evenings and weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in or recent graduates from an undergraduate or graduate degree program.
• Interest in environmental education pursued during studies or career goals.
• Background in education, recreation, natural science, human development, or related field is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Develop, facilitate, and evaluate outdoor learning experiences, educational activities, lesson plans, and programs.
• Embrace growth mindset, leadership, and professional engagement opportunities.
• Enroll in the mandatory Canvas course Upskill Penn State (9-week non-credit).
• Participate in paid, regularly scheduled community education days.
