Job summary

UVA Health is seeking a Pharmacist to support the UVA Specialty Pharmacy Call Center and Home Delivery program. You will provide phone-based pharmacist consultations, assess medication safety, and escalate complex cases for technicians in a fast-paced environment.

The role offers hybrid scheduling after initial onsite training, with potential for remote collaboration and participation in program development within an academic health system.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. required.
• No experience required; PGY-1 or equivalent preferred.
• Virginia licensure or eligibility within 60 days of hire; BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide pharmacist consultations, medication counseling, and patient education by phone.
• Respond to questions about medication use, administration, side effects, and treatment expectations.
• Evaluate medication orders for safety, efficacy, appropriateness, and accuracy.
• Serve as the clinical escalation point for technicians handling complex patient situations.
• Resolve medication-related problems and coordinate transfers.
• Perform medication review and verification to support safe, efficient operations.
• Make outbound follow-up calls when additional pharmacist support is needed.
• Support home delivery and central fill operations through training and collaboration.
• Maintain accessibility and responsiveness via Teams while working remotely.
• Participate in team meetings, cross-training, and process improvement.
