Job summary

KQED Inc. is seeking an Operations Analyst to schedule the 100+ person newsroom and related teams, ensuring accurate shifts, timely updates, and proactive project support. The role includes auditing timesheets, managing staffing plans, and serving as the primary SME on SAG-AFTRA and wage-hour compliance.

Hybrid work from KQED's SF location with a focus on efficiency, cost control, and cross‑department collaboration to support News, Podcasts, Digital Video and Radio Administration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Knowledge of TV or Radio broadcast operations and scheduling practices.
• Familiarity with labor policies and scheduling procedures.

Responsibilities

• Planning, publishing and maintaining daily and weekly assignments and shifts including holidays and leave.
• Backfilling for Senior Operations Manager in meetings with senior leaders across News, Podcasts, Digital Video, Live Events and Radio Administration.
• Post daily/weekly TV and FM schedules, enter production work orders, and cover sick calls.
• Serve as SME on SAG-AFTRA and CA Wage and Hour Law for newsroom scheduling and compliance.
• Manage projects related to extended staffing vacancies and rotations.
• Monitor scheduling cost implications and alert leadership to potential overruns.
• Ensure staff have appropriate skills and training; coordinate training and update scheduling records in SnapSchedule 365.
• Create and review schedules using SnapSchedule 365, Outlook, and Dayforce HCM; adapt to new systems as needed.
• Track contracts for represented staff and flag LT contract needs during high shift volumes.
• Own the timesheet process for 100+ newsroom employees and train managers on time-entry and pay period compliance.
