Qualifications

• Certification REQUIRED: AAPC or AHIHMA - CPB, CPC, CHONC.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and transmit claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing.
• Review Hematology/Oncology patient records and abstract data to capture diagnoses, procedures, and modifiers.
• Evaluate medical documentation and determine accurate E/M levels.
• Ensure CPT/ICD-10 codes align for proper reimbursement.
• Code professional services in compliance with federal regulations and insurance requirements.
• Assess CMS documentation standards and present findings for resolution.
• Follow Medicare, state programs, and HMO/PPO guidelines.
• Enter coding information into CureMD EMR system.
• Verify patient information and perform referrals/authorizations as needed.
• Review referrals and authorizations, transfer billing data to systems.
• Respond to questions from patients or insurers; maintain confidentiality.
• Maintain records of payments and follow up on unpaid claims.
• Research and appeal denied claims; contact insurers when needed.
• Keep up-to-date with CPT-4 and ICD-10 changes; maintain CEUs.
