Job summary

Johnson & Johnson’s Global Oncology Internship Program offers a hands-on, 12-week summer internship within a leading health care company. The role supports an oncology R&D team on drug-device combination products, emphasizing benchtop testing, placebo development, and mechanical characterization.

The program operates on a hybrid model (on-site three days/week, remote two days/week) for non-lab-based work, with collaboration across scientists, engineers, and cross-functional partners.

Qualifications

• Legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship; CPT requirements must be communicated at application time.
• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited University/College program for duration of internship.
• Must not graduate before, during, or after the internship period.
• Undergrad students with at least four completed semesters; grads eligible.
• Minimum GPA 3.0 across coursework.
• Pursuing a degree in Biomedical/Mechanical/Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct benchtop experiments for drug-device combination products under guidance of R&D scientists/engineers.
• Support development and preparation of placebo formulations/materials for device testing.
• Evaluate mechanical properties of placebo formulations for device testing.
• Perform mechanical testing and characterization to relate material properties, design, and device performance.
• Conduct device insertion/removal and deployment tests with representative models.
• Prepare test samples and perform mechanical testing with lab equipment.
• Collect, organize, analyze and interpret experimental data; maintain lab records.
