Job summary

SI Scholastic Inc. is looking for a Designer to join their Children’s Licensing, Brands & Media Trade Art Department in New York City. This role involves managing design projects for school market publishing, where creativity and detail orientation are key requirements.

The ideal candidate will have 2–4 years of experience, strong computer skills, and a BA in Graphic Design. Our company offers a full suite of health benefits, a 401(k) plan, and tuition-free educational programs.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience in the publishing industry.
• Hands-on experience designing non-fiction and novelty books.
• Highly creative, with strong attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, highly motivated, and organized.
• Excellent computer skills in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and relevant art/design software.
• Experience designing for print and building files for print production.
• Experience with non-fiction, creating novelties, and working with licensed brands preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage all stages of design and production for multiple titles.
• Meet with editors to find and hire illustrators and package designers.
• Keep production staff updated on project complications and solutions.
• Attend meetings and represent projects in a professional manner.
• Collaborate with teams to create products within budget.
• Identify opportunities for business growth and stay updated on industry trends.
