Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical Merchandise Planner to develop, execute, and communicate merchandise financial forecasts and strategies across multiple distribution channels. In this role, you will analyze historical trends, support pre-season planning, manage in-season sales and inventory forecasts, and help drive sales, margin, and inventory performance. The ideal candidate is highly comfortable working with data, building reports, identifying risks and opportunities, and partnering cross-functionally to support business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

As a Merchandise Planner, you will:

  • Drive financial results by supporting sales, inventory, margin, and profitability goals across multiple channels of distribution.
  • Create pre-season forecasts and manage in-season sales forecasts, inventory plans, and business recaps.
  • Analyze historical sales, inventory, and trend data to identify risks, opportunities, and category-level insights.
  • Evaluate product demand, including the impact of promotions, creative campaigns, seasonality, and item-level performance.
  • Partner with merchandising, marketing, operations, finance, and other departments to align product strategies with financial goals.
  • Support timely and accurate execution of in-season strategies by monitoring performance and recommending actions.
  • Develop working knowledge of reporting systems, planning tools, and distribution channels.
  • Seek practical solutions to business obstacles while identifying process improvement opportunities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field required.
  • 3+ years of related professional experience required.
  • U.S. work authorization required.
  • Strong understanding of retail fundamentals, business acumen, open-to-buy planning, inventory management, and sales/inventory forecasting.
  • Ability to analyze data, recognize trends, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Strong internal relationship management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Sound decision-making skills with the ability to prioritize both short- and long-range projects.
  • Flexible, agile problem solver who can quickly assess business needs and respond effectively.
  • Effective verbal communication skills, including meeting facilitation and presentations.
Technical Skills
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Experience creating dynamic reports using PivotTables.
  • Strong Excel formula knowledge, including IF, INDEX, MATCH, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, CONCATENATE, TRIM, and other financial or text formulas.
  • Knowledge of data uploads and data maintenance preferred.
  • Excel macro experience is a plus.
  • NetSuite experience is a plus.
