Job summary

Merrick & Company is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the mechanical design of projects across energy, manufacturing, and bioprocessing. Based in Ellicott City, MD, Richmond, VA, or Newport News, VA, the role covers concept through construction administration as part of a multidisciplinary team.

The engineer will perform detailed calculations, develop 3D CAD models, and coordinate with vendors, with potential travel within the United States.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum four years of related experience.
• Passed FE Exam and working toward PE license.
• Experience in mechanical project design including planning, calculations, equipment selection, and construction documents.
• Industrial manufacturing design and construction knowledge.
• Proficiency in report writing including basis of design reports and specs.
• Ability to travel.
• U.S. Citizenship is required for client projects.

Responsibilities

• Execute conceptual and detailed mechanical design for manufacturing processes and facilities.
• Produce detailed engineering calculations and data sheets; coordinate with vendors; develop 3D CAD models and construction drawings (P&IDs, layouts, isometrics).
• Perform field work at customer locations with potential domestic travel.
• Develop and maintain knowledge of applicable codes and standards for industrial design and construction.
• Grow skills in software such as CAESAR II, AFT Fathom/Arrow, Trane Trace, Bluebeam Revu.
