Job summary

Synechron in Alpharetta, GA is seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer to design, develop, and maintain high-volume mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, and DB2 on z/OS. You’ll handle online transactions, batch processing, and production support across the mainframe lifecycle.

Responsibilities include SQL DB2 tuning, JCL, and coordinating with analysts, QA, and infrastructure teams. The role offers a flexible hybrid work policy and opportunities within a global organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
• Strong hands-on experience with COBOL programming.
• Solid experience developing and supporting CICS applications.
• Strong knowledge of DB2 for z/OS, including SQL, tables and indexes, views, stored procedures, explain plans, and query tuning.
• Good experience with JCL and batch job processing.
• Knowledge of mainframe utilities and production support processes.

Responsibilities

• Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
• Design, develop, modify, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, DB2, and JCL.
• Develop and support online CICS transactions and batch processing applications.
• Write efficient DB2 SQL queries and manage DB2 objects.
• Prepare technical specifications, program documentation, test plans, and support documentation.
• Coordinate with analysts, QA, infrastructure, and other dev teams.
