Job summary

BP is seeking an imaging research scientist (lead) to advance ML-based seismic imaging, reservoir analysis, and HPC-enabled workflows. You will lead projects across geophysics, petrophysics, and computational sciences, delivering scalable imaging solutions for subsurface problems.

The role requires 7+ years post-PhD experience, strong coding in Python/C/C++, and expertise in inverse problems, optimization, statistics and ML/AI. Hybrid work with remote options available.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Physics, Mathematics, Computational Sciences, Statistics, or Geophysics.
• 7+ years of post-grad experience.
• Hands-on coding in Python, C, C++, CUDA.
• Experience with inverse problems and ML/AI.

Responsibilities

• Lead squads and projects and drive technical solutions.
• Write code and build computational imaging solutions.
• Collaborate with scientists from Geophysics, Petrophysics, Reservoir Engineering, and HPC teams.
• Address big inverse problems and develop modeling capabilities.
