Job summary

mcfa is seeking a Land Surveyor Technician to support field and office survey operations across New York and New Jersey, with 1 day per week in Haddonfield, NJ. This full-time, hybrid position requires an Associate degree or surveying coursework and 1–4 years of relevant experience.

You will assist with data collection, drafting base maps, exhibits, and survey drawings in CAD, and support calculations and legal descriptions under PLS review. Travel across NY/NJ is expected.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or surveying coursework or equivalent field experience.
• 1–4 years of land surveying experience or related role.
• Working knowledge of survey field equipment and data collection/reduction software.
• Basic proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD/Civil 3D preferred).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret field notes and plans.

Responsibilities

• Assist field crews with boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, right-of-way, utility, construction, and as-built surveys.
• Operate GPS units, robotic total stations, terrestrial scanning equipment, and UAV data collection tools where applicable.
• Process and reduce field data; assist with drafting base maps, plats, exhibits, and survey drawings in CAD.
• Support preparation of survey calculations, legal descriptions, and supporting documentation under PLS review.
• Research deeds, plats, easements, title reports, and legal descriptions to support project deliverables.
• Maintain field notes, equipment logs, and project files per QC procedures.
• Coordinate with the Survey Manager and PLS on scheduling and timelines.
• Support construction staking and site logistics as assigned.
• Assist with equipment calibration, maintenance, and inventory management.
• Collaborate with engineering, environmental, and construction teams on multidisciplinary projects.
