Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking a chemist to support operations across generating facilities and regional labs. The role emphasizes analytical instrumentation, water chemistry, and QA/QC program maintenance to improve asset reliability and reduce operating costs.

You will collaborate with internal teams, ensure compliance with regulations, train staff, and participate in new technologies. The position offers a hybrid work model with onsite presence required several days weekly.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in chemistry, engineering, applied science, or related fields and four years of related work experience.
• In lieu of a degree, six years of military training and/or laboratory/plant chemistry experience may be considered.
• MS/MA/MBA = 2 years; PhD/J.D. = 3 years may substitute for related work experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct chemistry analysis per procedures and QA/QC protocols; prepare samples and maintain records.
• Operate, calibrate, maintain instrumentation and support measurement systems.
• Train plant and chemistry personnel; may include external training.
• Review process parameters for control limit compliance and direct corrective action.
• Designs and develops chemistry procedures to ensure asset availability and reliability.
• Participate in process improvements and new technologies; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Interface with internal regulatory groups and external agencies.
• Provide emergent chemistry support when requested.
• Other duties as assigned.
