Job summary

The Santa Barbara & Ventura Colleges of Law is seeking Adjunct Faculty for its Hybrid J.D. program. Instructors may teach online, onsite on the Ventura campus, or in a hybrid format, collaborating with the Associate Dean to develop curriculum and pedagogy.

Responsibilities include full course delivery, assessments, timely feedback, and ensuring an engaging online learning environment using Canvas LMS. A J.D. degree is required, with teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Full responsibility for teaching and evaluating students in the class.
• Create and build navigable courses with varied tools and assessments.
• Provide comprehensive instruction using appropriate teaching methods.
• Administer assessments, record results, and inform students of progress.
• Provide timely feedback on weekly assignments.
• Monitor course activity and student engagement.
• Utilize Canvas LMS as the teaching and tracking platform.
• Maintain an environment conducive to online learning.

Adjunct Faculty for Hybrid J.D. Program - General Description

Adjunct Faculty in the hybrid J.D. program at The Santa Barbara & Ventura Colleges of Law instruct students in one of two ways: (1) both online and onsite on the Ventura campus, or (2) online only.

Adjunct Faculty instruct students in a designated subject matter and work closely with the Associate Dean of Hybrid and Online Learning on appropriate curriculum development and teaching methodology for the hybrid J.D. program.

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Full responsibility for the teaching and evaluation of students in the class
• Where appropriate, create and build a course that is easy to navigate, utilizes a variety of tools and assessments, and provide learning materials that foster student learning
• Comprehensive instruction of students in the designated subject matter, utilizing appropriate teaching methodologies
• Administer assessments to evaluate student progress, record results, and inform students of their progress
• Provide timely and meaningful feedback to students on weekly assignments
• Closely monitor course activity and student engagement
• Utilize Canvas learning management system as the infrastructure for teaching and tracking student outcomes
• Maintain an environment that is conducive to online learning

Position Qualifications
