Job summary

Advance Auto Parts is seeking a Software Engineer in Raleigh, NC, to design and build scalable backend services and modern web applications. The role emphasizes Java/Spring Boot, microservices, event-driven architectures, and cloud-native pipelines in a hybrid work model (4 days in office, 1 day remote).

The candidate will work across backend, full-stack, and data streaming efforts, collaborating with DevOps and platform teams to deliver resilient systems.

Qualifications

• 4-6+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.
• Hands-on experience building microservices-based applications.
• Experience with Apache Kafka, Kafka Streams, and event-driven architectures.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems concepts and design patterns.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases: PostgreSQL, Cassandra.
• Experience with MongoDB, Redis, and Elastic.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitOps, and ArgoCD.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful APIs.
• Build and enhance cloud-native distributed applications with a focus on scalability, resiliency, and maintainability.
• Develop event-driven solutions using Apache Kafka and Kafka Streams.
• Design and develop responsive front-end interfaces using Angular, React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS.
• Integrate frontend applications with backend APIs and event-driven services.
• Build and maintain real-time data pipelines using Apache Kafka, Kafka Streams, and Apache NiFi.
• Deploy and manage applications on Kubernetes-based environments.
• Develop and maintain containerized solutions using Docker and Helm.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to automate deployments through GitOps, Jenkins, and ArgoCD.
• Mentor junior developers and participate in architecture reviews.
