Job summary

AECOM isseeking an ITS/Traffic Engineer to be based in Dallas, Texas, with Austin as a potential alternate location. This role supports public- and private-sector transportation clients in Texas and across the United States with a focus on ITS and connected transportation technologies.

The ITS/Traffic Engineer will work with multidisciplinary teams, lead technical tasks, develop system designs, run traffic models and prepare reports for clients and project stakeholders.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in civil engineering or related field with 4 years of experience.
• Master’s degree in civil/transportation engineering preferred.
• Experience with connected and automated vehicle technologies.
• Traffic engineering and ITS design experience.
• Modeling with VISSIM, TransModeler or TransCAD.
• Experience providing technical leadership on projects.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with MicroStation and AutoCAD.
• GIS and Python for transportation data analysis.
• Experience preparing technical reports and presentations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform technical tasks supporting ITS, traffic engineering and emerging transportation technology projects.
• Develop ITS system and device designs, analyses, evaluations and documentation.
• Support CV/AV projects including analytics, modeling and simulation.
• Perform traffic studies, impact analyses and operational assessments.
• Develop and evaluate advanced traffic signal systems and arterial management.
• Support planning and evaluation of transportation operations centers.
• Model traffic using VISSIM, TransModeler, TransCAD, Synchro or SimTraffic.
• Support data analytics with GIS and Python as required.
• Prepare systems engineering documentation and technical reports.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across locations.
• Review design documents using MicroStation and AutoCAD.
