Motion Recruitment is seeking an Investment Data Analyst in Cambridge, MA to join its analytics and technology team. The role emphasizes building scalable analytical tools with Python and SQL to support investment decision-making and data-driven insights.

You will design data pipelines, dashboards, and analytical applications while collaborating with investment, product, and technology stakeholders. Hybrid work and exposure to modern investment analytics platforms are offered.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in data analytics, quantitative analysis, business intelligence, analytics engineering, or a related field.
• Strong Python skills for data analysis, automation, and application development.
• Advanced SQL experience working with large, complex datasets.
• Experience designing and supporting data models and analytical datasets.
• Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience building dashboards, reports, or analytical applications.
• Familiarity with cloud environments such as Azure or similar platforms.
• Experience using Git and working within modern software development practices.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.

Responsibilities

• Analyze large investment and operational datasets to identify trends, opportunities, and business insights.
• Develop and maintain Python-based analytical tools and automation solutions.
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries supporting reporting and analytics initiatives.
• Build and enhance data pipelines and integration workflows.
• Partner with investment and business teams to understand requirements and deliver data-driven solutions.
• Create and maintain analytical reports, dashboards, and data products.
• Support the development of internal applications and analytics platforms.
• Contribute to data quality, governance, and data management initiatives.
• Participate in testing, deployment, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Document processes and share knowledge across teams.
