Job summary

West Virginia University is seeking an Institutional Research & Analytics Specialist in a hybrid role within the Office of Data Analytics. The position focuses on data reporting, analysis, and supporting institutional decision-making across admissions, enrollment, graduates, and finances.

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, able to work collaboratively or independently, and possess strong communication and organizational skills to deliver accurate end products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social science, business, information science, computer science, or related field.
• At least two years of experience in institutional research, data analytics, assessment, program evaluation, or related field.
• Experience using data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
• Experience programming/conducting analysis using SQL, SAS, R, SPSS, STATA or similar software.
• Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Extract, combine, transform, and validate data from multiple institutional systems and external sources.
• Utilize SAS, SQL, and data visualization tools to collect, analyze data and present results.
• Evaluate structure, grain, definitions, timing, and use of datasets.
• Develop validation procedures before analytical results are released.
• Document definitions, methodologies, and business rules for reproducibility.
• Contribute to data governance and accessibility improvements.
