Job summary

General Dynamics Land Systems seeks an IT Platform Engineer to modernize and automate our hybrid platform. The role focuses on infrastructure as code across on-prem and cloud (Azure Government/GCC High, AWS), building repeatable, secure systems and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities include automating server builds with Terraform/Ansible, creating hardened images, integrating with identity and monitoring, and maintaining runbooks in a compliant environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in infrastructure or systems engineering
• 2+ years focused on automation and infrastructure as code
• Hands-on Terraform and at least one configuration management tool (Ansible preferred)
• Strong scripting in PowerShell and/or Python
• Solid Git skills with branching and PRs
• Experience administering Linux and Windows Server in regulated enterprise environments
• Experience with at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
• Understanding of networking, DNS, certificates and identity fundamentals
• Must be a U.S. Person (lawful permanent resident)

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain infrastructure as code for on-prem private cloud and cloud environments
• Automate server builds, configuration and patching for Linux and Windows
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure changes
• Create hardened golden images and baseline configurations aligned to CIS benchmarks
• Automate compliance evidence collection and remediation for audits
• Integrate automation with identity, storage, backup and monitoring platforms
• Build automated utilization reports for forecasting
• Write documentation and runbooks; assist teammates with automation adoption
• Participate in troubleshooting, incident response and on-call rotation
