Job summary

Unified Vailsburg Services Organization in Newark seeks a dedicated Pre-K Teacher to provide a high-quality educational experience for three- and four-year-olds enrolled in the program. A Bachelor's degree and NJ Standard P-3 Certificate (CE/CEAS) are required, along with preschool experience and strong computer,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
• NJ Department of Education Standard P-3 Certificate, CE or CEAS.
• At least 1 year of experience working in a preschool environment.
• Above-average computer, organizational, time management, reading and writing skills.
• Ability to comprehend and implement curriculum.
• Confidence to teach birth virtually and in person.

Responsibilities

• Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interest and abilities of children.
• Uses required tools to evaluate child’s progress, prepare progress reports, and communicate with parents.
• Instructs children in proper care and use of equipment and materials.
• Develops professional competence through staff development activities.
• Identifies child’s needs and collaborates with staff to help with health, behavior, and learning problems.
• Communicates with parents on child progress via newsletters and notes.
• Ensures the teacher assistant is included in planning sessions.
• Integrates daily health, nutrition, and safety education.
• Plans routines and transitions to be timely and predictable.
• Uses observations and assessments to support learning.
• Communicate with children at eye level and encourage engagement.
• Ensure playground safety and supervision for all children.
