Job summary

Unified Vailsburg Services in Newark's West Ward is seeking a passionate Pre-K Lead Teacher to provide a high-quality, inclusive educational experience for 3- and 4-year-olds.

You will develop curricula, assess children, communicate with families, supervise a Teacher Assistant, and promote health and safety in a nurturing classroom.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• NJ DOE Standard P-3 Certificate, CE, or CEAS.
• Minimum 1 year of preschool experience.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with educational technology and software for assessment and communication.
• The physical ability to lift, stand for long periods, and sit on the floor.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement an engaging curriculum meeting each child's needs.
• Conduct ongoing assessments, track progress, and communicate with families.
• Foster a safe, inclusive classroom where children feel valued.
• Supervise a Teacher Assistant and collaborate on planning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive, engaging curriculum that meets the individual needs and abilities of all children.
• Conduct ongoing child assessments, track progress, and maintain clear communication with parents through conferences, newsletters, and detailed reports.
• Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment where children feel respected and valued.
• Supervise and collaborate with a Teacher Assistant, ensuring they are included in classroom planning and activities.
• Integrate lessons on health, nutrition, and safety into daily routines and ensure a clean, sanitized classroom.
• Build strong, positive relationships with children, families, and staff to support each child's development.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Required:Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
