Job summary

Markel Corporation in the United States is seeking a paralegal to join its in-house legal team in a hybrid role based at Rosemont, IL or Omaha, NE. The position supports regulatory, compliance, and transactional matters and coordinates with Underwriting, Finance, Tax, Treasury, and Compliance to keep processes compliant and efficient.

You will prepare regulatory filings, manage legal documents, perform research, and help maintain calendars and records to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or paralegal education from ABA-approved program or equivalent experience.
• Five years of in-house paralegal or regulatory/compliance experience preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, grammar, proofreading, and organizational skills.
• Notary Public designation is a plus.
• Experience with regulatory filings and document management systems a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide broad legal and administrative support to in-house attorneys.
• Prepare and assist with regulatory filings and corporate regulatory documents.
• Conduct internet-based factual and legal research.
• Track legislative and regulatory developments affecting the insurance industry.
• Coordinate signatures, notarizations, and execution of documents.
• Maintain electronic filing systems and legal records for accuracy and accessibility.
• Interface with internal departments and act as liaison with Legal."
