Job summary

First Citizens Bank seeks an experienced Employment Litigation Counsel to join its Legal department in Raleigh, hybrid role three days in-office. You will manage employment-related claims, agency charges, investigations, arbitrations, and litigation in coordination with HR, Risk, and business stakeholders.

The ideal candidate has a JD and 5+ years of post-JD employment litigation experience, preferably with management-side exposure, with strong advocacy, judgment, and ability to navigate complex

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree required with 5+ years of post‑JD employment litigation experience.
• Prefer candidates with management-side employment litigation background and in-house experience.
• Ability to manage complex employment litigation, budgets, and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Independently manages employment-related claims, agency investigations, arbitrations and litigation.
• Retains and supervises outside counsel and budgets to align with costs and objectives.
• Collaborates with HR, Risk, and business stakeholders to build factual records and defend disputes.
• Provides legal support for internal investigations related to pending or threatened litigation.
• Prepares internal reports for senior leadership on litigation trends and reserves.
• Monitors developments in employment law and communicates risks to stakeholders.
