Job summary

Ford Motor seeks a Mechanical Engineer specialized in thermal analysis to support HV battery packs within the Electrified Propulsion Engineering group. You will perform 1D/3D thermal/CFD simulations, post-process results, and help correlate CAE models with lab data to meet development milestones.

Candidates should have a BS, 2+ years in thermal analysis, experience with StarCCM+, Ansa or HyperMesh, and CAD cleanup. Ford offers competitive benefits and a hybrid onsite work arrangement.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; MS preferred
• 2+ years in thermal analysis 1D/3D and CFD
• 2+ years supporting product development in thermal analysis
• Expert knowledge of heat transfer theory and CAE methods
• Thermal testing experience preferred
• Experience with CAE tools: StarCCM+, Ansa, HyperMesh
• CAD cleanup for CAE, meshing, model setup; scripting knowledge preferred
• HV battery pack design/ manufacturing knowledge preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform 1D and 3D thermal/CFD simulations on HV battery packs to meet development timing
• Post-process and report results to guide battery design and milestones
• Analyze vehicle and lab thermal test data to correlate CAE models
• Determine loading and boundary conditions for thermal CAE/CFD models
• Collaborate with testing and D&R engineers to specify thermal testing and instrumentation
• Lead CAE-testing interactions and support testing teams and signoff
