Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is seeking an HR Technician II (S) to support daily HR operations within the Division of Air Quality and the Division of Water Infrastructure. Responsibilities include recruitment postings, orientation, benefits, HRIS/payroll entries, I-9 processing, and records management.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Human Resources or relevant field.
• 1 year of HR experience or more recommended.
• Familiarity with HRIS and payroll processes.

Responsibilities

• Assist HR Manager with daily HR administration for DEQ divisions.
• Administer new hire orientation, benefits, leave, and other HR programs.
• Process personnel actions in HRIS/payroll; manage records and LOA actions.
• Support I-9 forms, retirement processing, and awards coordination.
• Maintain HR filing systems and generate routine reports.
