Job summary

Detroit Public Schools Community District seeks an HR Project Manager to lead strategic HR initiatives and operational support across the HR division. You will manage multiple projects from concept through completion, collaborating with HR leaders and cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery and data-driven results.

Responsibilities include defining scope, tracking progress, and producing dashboards with Excel/Power BI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.
• Experience developing cross-departmental project plans with goals, milestones, dates, and responsibilities using PM software.
• Experience publishing external and internal stakeholder communications.
• Demonstrated proficiency with PeopleSoft 9.2+.
• Strong written and verbal communication and ability to engage across stakeholder groups.
• Experience drafting communications for organizational leaders.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong data, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• PMP certification, or relevant coursework preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, execution, and tracking of HR projects aligned with district priorities.
• Collaborate with HR and cross-functional teams to define scope, timelines, deliverables, and success metrics.
• Create and manage project tracking tools and workflows for accountability and transparency.
• Provide operational and logistical support for core HR functions: recruitment, staffing, employee records, employee relations, benefits, leave management, talent development, and labor relations.
• Identify opportunities to improve HR systems, processes, and employee experience.
• Assist with payroll processing, budget monitoring, purchasing, and vendor coordination.
• Provide high-level admin support to the Chief HR Officer, including calendar management and reporting.
• Manage and evaluate staff using district evaluation tools.
• Develop clerical professional development initiatives to improve service quality.
• Support HR teams in collecting and analyzing key HR data with dashboards and visuals using Excel, Power BI, etc.
• Prepare reports and presentations for data-informed decisions.
• Assist with salary determination and redetermination processes.
• Draft and submit reports, correspondence, and internal communications.
• Serve as a contact for constituent inquiries; ensure timely resolutions.
• Develop workflows using PeopleSoft, Qualtrics, Power Automate, Jobvite, Case IQ, and Office 365.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
