Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System seeks a Litigation Paralegal to support employment and revenue cycle attorneys with claims, discovery, and regulatory requests. The role involves coordinating with outside counsel, preparing documents, and managing legal hold processes.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree from an accredited college or university and completion of an accredited paralegal program.
• 3 or more years of experience as a litigation paralegal in a law firm and/or in-house legal department.
• Bachelor's degree is preferred and beneficial in academic medical settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide litigation/claims support to the employment and revenue cycle attorneys, including preparing, sending, and tracking legal-hold notices and implementing holds; timely notifying insurers when a new claim is received.
• Organize, interview witnesses, prepare documents, and coordinate discovery responses and subpoenas.
• Conduct legal research and analyze laws, regulations, statutes, and board rules.
• Investigate grievances or inquiries filed by union members and assist in training materials and policies.
• Prepare training materials and presentations, including data analytics on claims/litigation.
• Maintain and secure legal files and document management systems and collaborate with other departments and outside counsel.
• Work in a hybrid role with on-site training; after onboarding, work 1-3 days in the office and travel to off-site locations as needed.
