Job summary

Nordstrom, Inc. is seeking a Buyer in Seattle to direct content strategy, product selection, and trend-driven merchandise plans. You will partner with the Assortment Planner to hit GMROI and sales targets, while guiding a team of assistants to elevate performance across channels.

You will negotiate exclusive offerings, manage in-season inventory, and collaborate on business reviews to achieve financial goals. A 4/1 hybrid schedule is in effect, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience as a multichannel/omni-channel retail Buyer or equivalent.
• Strong negotiation instincts and track record with vendor relationships.
• People leadership experience; ability to inspire performance.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Bachelor's degree in Merchandising or related field preferred.
• Experience managing a high-volume, multi-brand category.
• Ability to travel domestically (and internationally 1×/year).

Responsibilities

• Direct content strategy, product selection, and use of trend data to support merchandise strategies.
• Partner with Assortment Planner to meet financial objectives and GMROI targets.
• Develop product plans aligned with fashion trends and customer expectations.
• Negotiate exclusive offerings, terms, pricing, and vendor programs.
• Manage in-season inventory, analyze markdowns, re-orders, and claims.
• Coach and motivate assistants to optimize assortment performance.
