The Brad & Alys Smith Outdoor Economic Development Collaborative at West Virginia University Research Corporation is currently accepting applications for a Greenbrier Valley Program Coordinator.

About the Opportunity

The Brad and Alys Smith Outdoor Economic Development Collaborative (OEDC) empowers West Virginia's communities and partners to advance the state's economy and enhance quality of life through outdoor recreation. The Program Coordinator, part of the Talent Attraction & Retention team, oversees programs in Lewisburg, WV, supporting community integration and outdoor recreation initiatives. This role involves planning, implementing, and managing programs, outreach, and community engagement, with travel within WV. Experience in outdoor recreation and a passion for the outdoors are strongly encouraged.

What You'll Do
Community Building
  • Develop and lead networking events and community engagement initiatives.
  • Coordinate welcome events and social networking opportunities.
  • Manage program outings, including logistics, risk management, and feedback.
Program Management and Development
  • Assist in establishing policies, building partnerships, and setting goals for programs.
Outreach
  • Represent the OEDC in the Greenbrier Valley, engaging stakeholders and developing local partnerships.
Facilities Management
  • Oversee coworking space operations, outdoor equipment loan programs, and supervise staff and volunteers.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant fields; 2+ years' experience in community or team-building programs, outdoor activities preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Program development, team building, networking, technology proficiency, communication skills, outdoor recreation knowledge, ability to manage multiple responsibilities, and activity-specific skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree preferred.
Requirements
  • Cover letter required.
Licenses/Certifications
  • Wilderness First Aid (or ability to obtain within 6 months), valid driver’s license.
