Job summary

Iowa Workforce Development in Des Moines, IA, is seeking an Accountant to join the IVRS Accounting Division. The position is full-time with a 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM schedule and hybrid telework after six months of employment and training. Location is 1000 E Grand Ave., Des Moines, IA.

The duties include managing IVRS cash flow, payroll coordination, quarterly indirect cost transfers, and year-end closing entries. Strong Excel skills and government accounting experience are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in accounting, business administration, or finance.
• Four years of full-time work experience in accounting, accounts examination or verification, budgeting, or closely-related fiscal work.
• A total of four years of education and/or full-time experience, where 30 semester hours in accounting, business administration, or finance equals one year.

Responsibilities

• Manage IVRS cash flow and daily drawdowns in the Payment Management System, G5/G6 and ASAP.
• Prepare and approve cash receipts in IA Advantage and determine funding for state and federal fiscal years.
• Coordinate biweekly payroll information with HR and build correction spreadsheets for fiscal years.
• Process indirect cost transfers and balance across IA Objects and G5.
• Review OLDD in IA Objects and assist auditors with funding questions and reports.
• Close fiscal years, balance ledgers, and prepare monthly reconciliations.
• Process DDS Case Services in IRSS and manage secure records and MER/CE claims.
• Allocate payroll to federal programs and ensure proper cost center allocations.
