Job summary

Astronomer is seeking Software Engineers to help build and ship core product experiences across the web app, backend services, and APIs. You will work on the frontend, APIs, and features that make Astro easier to use, monitor, and scale.

Teams cover frontend, backend, and both, with early-career engineers gaining hands-on ownership and guidance from senior staff. This role is posted for Engineer I and II levels, based on experience and scope.

Qualifications

• 0–4 years of software or application engineering experience (or equivalent internship/coursework).
• Experience with at least one backend language (Go, TypeScript, Python) and frontend frameworks (React).
• Understanding of REST/GraphQL API design and frontend-backend communication.
• Familiar with Git and automated testing (unit/integration/e2e).
• Strong written communication and documentation habits.

Responsibilities

• Write, test, and maintain application code across frontend, backend, and APIs.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to production readiness.
• Build and troubleshoot features, APIs, and UI workflows across the stack.
• Identify and fix bugs with guidance from seniors.
• Maintain technical docs, design notes, and test coverage.
