Job summary

Salas O'Brien is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to design, evaluate, and plan fire protection systems across diverse projects including labs, federal, and private space sectors. The role offers a hybrid work environment with collaboration in-office and remote flexibility.

Expect to perform hydraulic calculations, apply NFPA and life-safety standards, and coordinate multi-discipline inputs. A minimum of 5 years’ experience and a PE license are required, with strong CAD/RevIt skills and

Qualifications

• 5+ years of fire protection design experience.
• ABET-accredited Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Fire Protection Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA codes and life safety standards.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Office; experience with CAD/Revit/Bluebeam is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, evaluate, and plan fire protection systems for diverse facilities (labs, federal, private space).
• Perform hydraulic calculations for sprinkler and standpipe systems and prepare construction documents.
• Review and apply NFPA/IBC/IFC/UFC requirements for each project.
• Coordinate with architecture, civil, and process disciplines.
• Lead project teams and interface with clients and authorities having jurisdiction.
