Job summary

Withum is seeking a Financial Services Tax Manager to lead tax engagements from the San Francisco area, supervising staff and building client relationships. You will oversee hedge funds, private equity and related entities, ensuring accurate tax reporting while identifying planning opportunities.

The role requires 5+ years in tax in a public accounting setting, CPA/JD/MS in Taxation, and strong analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required.
• CPA license, JD or MS in Taxation required.
• 5+ years in public accounting tax department, leading engagements and supervising staff.
• Excellent analytical and technical tax skills.
• Excellent client service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review returns prepared by tax staff and seniors for accuracy.
• Lead tax engagements including hedge funds, private equity, VC, broker-dealers, and management companies.
• Research and draft memoranda involving complex tax matters.
• Identify and implement tax planning opportunities.
• Handle and resolve tax controversies.
• Oversee multiple engagements with teams to meet deadlines.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to staff.
