Job summary

The George Washington University seeks a Managing Finance Director to lead financial management and strategic initiatives across the GWU schools. You will provide advisory support to the Dean and senior leadership, translate complex financial data into clear recommendations, and oversee budget, forecasting, contracts, and multi-year planning in a fast-paced academic environment.

The role reports to the Associate Vice President for Financial Management and collaborates with the Dean of GW School

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting with 10 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 8+ years.
Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Experience in higher education or public health is desirable but not essential.
Strong communication, leadership and strategic financial planning capabilities.

Responsibilities

Provides proactive and strategic financial guidance to Deans and Associate Deans.
Develops financial models for enrollment, programs, research portfolios, and new initiatives.
Oversees budgets, forecasts, accounting, asset management, procurement and payroll for schools.
Leads multi-year planning, dashboards, and decision-support for leadership.
Ensures internal controls and compliance with GW financial policies and procedures.
