Blackford Capital is seeking a part-time Family Controller to oversee the family's accounting and financial operations within a private family office. The role emphasizes building systems and dashboards to support informed decisions while maintaining strict confidentiality and high integrity.

The position is hybrid, averaging 10–20 hours per week with remote work and biweekly in-person meetings. Strong experience in accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting is essential, with CPA preferred

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• CPA designation preferred but not required.
• Five+ years of progressive accounting, controller, family office, or private client financial management experience.
• Experience supporting high-net-worth individuals, family offices, or multi-entity accounting preferred.
• Strong accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting skills.
• Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Outstanding integrity, discretion, professionalism, and judgment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with family members and trusted advisors.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate accounting records for family entities and personal LLC.
• Manage monthly financial reporting, account reconciliations, and cash flow.
• Develop financial dashboards and reports providing insight into household finances.
• Monitor budgets and provide variance reporting.
• Coordinate bill payment, payroll, contractor payments, and other financial obligations.
• Improve financial systems, workflows, and administrative processes.
• Coordinate with outside accountants, investment advisors, attorneys, insurance professionals, payroll providers, and business finance personnel.
• Assist with long-term financial planning, budgeting, and cash reserve management.
• Protect confidential financial and personal information while delivering exceptional service.
