Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1–2 years professional experience in a university setting.
• Experience serving and supporting diverse student populations.
• Experience in academic advising, counseling, mentoring, tutoring, and/or success coaching.
• Demonstrated knowledge of student transitional issues.
• Understanding of academic advising and career development for exploratory/undeclared students.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and outreach skills.
• Ability to work with diverse populations and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Guide an assigned caseload of students from orientation to major selection and transition to advisement within an academic unit.
• Communicate with academic units about students terminated from their major for advising toward a new major.
• Provide individual and group advising meetings in person or virtually.
• Respond promptly to student questions via email, phone, texts, and other platforms.
• Assist with course selection, major declaration, program requirements, and university guidelines.
