Job summary

EnviroServices & Training Center in Hawai‘i seeks a technical professional to navigate regulatory compliance, conduct field investigations, and analyze data for environmental assessments on diverse sites.

The role involves collecting environmental samples, developing CAD/GIS drawings, and preparing technical reports. A bachelor’s degree in engineering or environmental science is required; strong collaboration and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, or other physical science from a US-accredited four-year college or university.
  • Able to work independently and in a team setting, organize/manage multiple priorities, and conduct problem analysis/resolution.
  • Able to conduct site visits and collect data at a variety of locations, including residences, schools, construction sites, commercial/industrial facilities, secured government facilities, and other sites with challenging topography, conditions, and climates.

Responsibilities

  • Navigate Regulatory Compliance and Historical Research: Interpret and apply federal and state environmental regulations while researching agency records to support site-specific environmental assessments.
  • Execute Field Investigations & Sample Collection: Assess environments for hazards such as air pollution, lead, and asbestos, take exposure measurements, and collect, preserve, and transport multi-media samples to analytical laboratories.
  • Analyze Technical Data & Author Reports: Evaluate laboratory data, develop CAD/GIS drawings, and author comprehensive technical reports communicating investigation findings to stakeholders.
  • Develop Project Plans & Specifications: Draft site-specific operational plans and support the development of design specifications for contractor bidding and remediation activities.
  • Maintain Hazardous Materials Certifications: Obtain and hold required state and federal certifications essential for environmental planning and hazardous materials management.
