Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an Environmental Permitting Manager for our Rochester, New York office. Hybrid work is expected, with consideration for Corning, Syracuse, Buffalo, and Binghamton locations in NY.

In this role, you will review project scopes, coordinate regulatory consultations, and develop required environmental permits. You will lead risk assessments, ensure compliance with federal/state/local rules, and represent clients in regulatory meetings to advance project objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in environmental sciences or related field.
• 7+ years of experience obtaining regulatory permits at state, federal and municipal levels.
• Experience preparing, editing, and interpreting studies for regulatory filings.
• Experience working in teams to site facilities in energy sector minimizing impacts.
• This position is subject to and contingent upon client approval of candidates put forth for consideration by WSP.
• The selected candidate must be authorized to work in the United States, or be able to obtain work authorized status in the United States prior to the start of employment.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
• Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
• Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Responsibilities

• Review project scope and determine applicable permits. This includes municipal building permits, variances, special use permits, stream and wetland permitting.
• PSI Article VII or Part 102, Army Corps, Natural Heritage or SHPO consultation, coastal zone development, DOT, FAA, etc.
• Develop or coordinate the development of the required environmental permits
• Manage progress against plans, perform risk assessment and take action to mitigate risks.
• Verify project adherence to federal, state and local environmental regulatory requirements.
• Participate in project teams and attend regular program/project planning and delivery meetings.
• Represent the client at public or regulatory meetings.
• Review and comment on proposed laws and regulations as they apply to company operations.
• Oversee implementation and inspection of wildlife, agriculture or wetland mitigation/management plans and other regulatory requirements.
