Job summary

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is seeking an Associate Environmental Specialist at Headquarters in Los Angeles. This role coordinates compliance across multiple facilities and supports hazardous materials, air quality, wastewater, and underground storage tank initiatives.

You will maintain the environmental management database, prepare training materials for stakeholders, and collaborate with internal teams and external regulators to ensure timely, compliant operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years of relevant experience; or two years in MW D Assistant Environmental Specialist II; or Masters degree with two years of related experience.
• Experience with environmental, health and safety compliance programs to meet local, state and federal requirements.
• Valid California Class C Driver’s License required at time of application.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate environmental compliance programs across multiple facilities.
• Develop and implement programs for hazardous materials, air quality, wastewater, and underground storage tanks.
• Update the environmental management database and ensure timely task completion.
• Create training materials for stakeholders and foster collaboration with internal teams and external agencies.
• Monitor laws and advise on compliance strategy and regulatory relations.
